Pregiudizio del Sopravvissuto
Il nome pubblico e metaforico utilizzato su questo sito per descrivere il profondo effetto di selezione esistenziale che garantisce che gli osservatori sperimentino solo realtà altamente ordinate e finemente sintonizzate. Se esisti, il tuo universo *deve* apparire stabile.
L'Effetto di Selezione Formativa
Il termine formale e tecnico per il Bias del Sopravvissuto all'interno del quadro accademico della Teoria delle Patch Ordinate. Distingue la necessità esistenziale di osservare un cosmo ordinato dal mero bias statistico nell'aggregazione quotidiana dei dati.
Codec di Compressione
Una descrizione strutturale e astratta delle regolarità stabili osservate all'interno di una patch. Le leggi della natura (fisica, termodinamica, biologia) non sono "cose" che esistono indipendentemente, ma sono le regole del codec che comprimono con successo il caos infinito in una narrazione sopravvivibile.
Patch Ordinato
Uno spazio informativo raro e altamente strutturato, temporaneamente sostenuto sullo sfondo di un rumore infinito. Ogni osservatore cosciente abita esattamente un patch ordinato, dal quale decodifica la propria realtà.
Il Render
Il mondo soggettivo e fenomenologico vissuto dall'osservatore (l'universo come lo vedi tu). È l'output decodificato del codec di compressione che prevede con successo il flusso di dati grezzi.
Filtro di Stabilità
Il meccanismo matematico (formalizzato essenzialmente come minimizzazione dell'Energia Libera) che permette solo a narrazioni causali coerenti, continue nel tempo e a bassa entropia di sostenere l'esperienza cosciente. Il resto del substrato infinito rimane potenziale indifferenziato.
Speranza Strutturale
L'implicazione etica e ontologica della Teoria delle Patch Ordinate. Mentre sei isolato nella tua propria patch, la natura combinatoria infinita del substrato garantisce che ogni "altro" con cui interagisci esista anche come osservatore primario ancorando la *propria* patch parallela. Sei epistemicamente isolato, ma ontologicamente accompagnato.
Decadimento Narrativo
Il processo attraverso il quale il rumore incomprimibile (entropia) sopraffà il codec locale. Il riscaldamento globale, il collasso democratico e il conflitto violento non sono semplicemente eventi fisici; sono sintomi della frattura del render perché il rumore ha superato la larghezza di banda dell'osservatore.
Active Inference
The continuous process by which the observer's boundary predicts incoming sensory data and corrects its internal model when predictions fail — spending energy to stay ahead of the chaos. Formalized by Karl Friston's Free Energy Principle, it is what Helmholtz called "unconscious inference" given thermodynamic teeth. In OPT, Active Inference is the mechanism by which the patch stays coherent: to stop predicting is to dissolve.
Render-on-Focus
The parsimony principle that high-resolution details do not "exist" in the observer's stream until actively demanded by attention or instrument. The atomic structure of a distant star, the bark on the back of a tree — these are not computed until the observer's focus requests them to maintain causal consistency. This keeps the informational cost of sustaining a cosmos near zero: the universe is largely an un-rendered abstraction except at the 50-bit focal point.
Markov Blanket
The statistical boundary separating an observer's internal states from the external substrate. Sensory states receive signals from outside; active states project outward; internal states are shielded by this surface from the raw noise of the substrate. Each Markov Blanket bounds exactly one primary observer. In OPT, the Markov Blanket is not a physical membrane but a mathematical boundary condition: the surface at which "inside" ends and "outside" begins.
Mathematical Saturation
The predicted asymptote where formal descriptions of physical phenomena at extremely high energy scales become as informationally complex as the phenomena themselves (maximum Kolmogorov complexity). Beyond this boundary, mathematical models do not converge to a single "true" equation — they proliferate. This is why OPT predicts that a Grand Unified Theory will remain out of reach: not because physics is weak, but because the grammar of the observer cannot fully describe the noise of the substrate beneath it. A single elegant parameter-free unification would falsify OPT.
Informational Normality
The foundational property of the infinite substrate: that it contains every possible finite pattern of information with non-zero frequency — analogous to a Borel-normal number in mathematics. This is not a speculative add-on; it follows from the definition of an infinite, maximally disordered field. Informational Normality is the mathematical ground of Structural Hope: it guarantees that every structural pattern of consciousness that has ever existed is anchored — in every detail — infinitely many times elsewhere in the substrate.
